How It began
Established in 2012, Lake Town Synergy was founded by a group of dedicated individuals who recognised the escalating problem of diabetes in India. Our founders were driven by a mission to raise awareness about this chronic condition, not only among patients and those at risk of developing the disease, but also among primary care physicians. They understood the critical need to enhance the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals in order to better diagnose, prevent, and treat diabetes.
OUR JOURNEY
In our initial years, we focused on organising diabetes detection camps in remote areas and the outskirts of urban centres. We also arranged Continuing Medical Education (CME) events for primary care physicians to share the latest advances in diabetes management. While our outreach camps successfully identified cases, we faced the challenge of providing medications to those who were below the poverty line and could not afford them. This issue was especially heart-wrenching for Type 1 diabetics, who rely on insulin as a lifeline, but struggled to secure the necessary funds for ongoing treatment.
OUR mission and vision
Lake Town Synergy is dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals affected by diabetes in India. We work tirelessly to create mass awareness, provide education and support, and offer financial assistance for medical care. Our organisation is guided by the following key objectives:
- Raising public awareness about the rising prevalence of diabetes in India.
- Providing continuous medical education to primary care physicians to improve diabetes diagnosis, prevention, and treatment.
- Assisting financially challenged families with Type 1 diabetic children by supplying insulin and glucometer strips until they achieve financial independence.
- Offering financial support for organ transplants, such as renal and bone marrow transplants, for schoolchildren.
- Organising diagnostic camps for early detection of diabetes in rural communities (currently suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
- Conducting regular outreach clinics in rural locations, in collaboration with local organisations, to provide diabetes treatment.
- Allocating research grants for projects that contribute valuable insights into diabetes management, with a special focus on health economics.
Achieving Self-Sustainability
To ensure the long-term viability of our organisation, Lake Town Synergy sought innovative ways to generate funds. By partnering with pharmaceutical companies to organise CME events across the state, we have been able to secure the necessary resources to pursue our dreams and achieve our goals. Today, we remain steadfast in our commitment to combating the diabetes crisis in India and are constantly evolving to better serve those in need.
